Community
Foundation Announces Over $85,000 in Grant
Awards
The
Foundation's Board of Trustees recently
approved grants for the fall 2009 cycle
totaling $87,015 in support of programs
to benefit Emmet County residents. Unrestricted
grant dollars were used to leverage funding
from donor advised funds within the Foundation
and were supplemented by $8,500 in funding
from the Oleson Foundation.
The
Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation
accepts donations, which are used to build
a permanent endowment. The long term objective
of the Community Foundation is to manage
these funds responsibly in order to make
grants in support of a variety of charitable
programs in Emmet County . “Recognizing
the current climate, our board felt that
we should respond accordingly,” said Sara
Ward , Program Officer. “We allowed operating
grant requests, offering our nonprofit partners
the flexibility to use dollars where they
most need them,” she explained.
